Pinnacle Health asked Francis Cauffman to develop a solution for their Harrisburg Hospital to increase its capacity to serve the central PA population.  The plan involved both a renovation and a new building to expand the Hospitals Emergency Department.                    Mobile Intervention is my Architecture Thesis project about using temporary structures to introduce a service where it is not presently found.  The temporary structures would travel around Philadelphia and act as an outreach center for a museum.  The temporary museum draws people to the site to create an event.  (follow the link for more information about the project).

            Maison Carree is an ancient Roman temple located in Nimes, France (the south of France).  The small well proportioned temple was built over 2000 years ago.  In the spring of 2005 I was able to travel to Nimes, France to visit Maison Carree and other Roman Structures.  At the time I was participating in a study abroad semester in Rome, Italy.

      During the 5th year at Philadelphia University we had a group project to design a museum in Center City Philadelphia.  I teamed up with my friends Heli and Matt to design and document the museum.  The program consisted of galleries, archives, A library, a cafeteria, and an auditorium.  Part of the project criteria was to incorporate realistic structural and mechanical systems into our design.

     This short documentary video on Pompeii contains both the Create (creating, designing, sketching) and the Capture (photography, time lapse, video) portion of my website.  The video shows the Mount Vesuvius eruption that destroyed Pompeii, a 3d Villa, and ruins around Pompeii.  The background music is also very good (Dave Matthews Band).

Summary:

 

     San Carlo is a Baroque Style Church designed by the Italian Architect Francesco Borromini that was built in Rome during the 1630s.  The exterior façade is famous for its concave and convex design.  Inside is an oval shaped chapel that is covered by vaulted ceiling and an oval dome.  During my spring 2005 study abroad in Rome I visited most of Borromini’s churches and structures.

                The final assignment for my Viz modeling class was to model, texture, and render a famous building.  I chose Monticello, the house Thomas Jefferson’s designed for himself.  I had about 2 months experience using Viz when I started the project.  Looking back there are lighting and texturing adjustments I would make to improve the project but overall I am very happy with my modeling project.

Summary:

 

         At Philadelphia University, for the History of Architecture 3 course, students selected a Philadelphia building to research and document through a written and visual report.  I selected a museum / exhibition space called Memorial Hall. In 1876 the United States celebrated its 100th anniversary by having an international exposition in Philadelphia.  Memorial hall was constructed in Fairmount Park to exhibit art work and inventions.
